SUPPORT RECOVERY NEXT WEDNESDAY NIGHT

The first aborted meeting was close to a lynching - hysteria was the order of the day. If you believe in Recovery and you can speak calmly and assure folks that they need not fear nine recovering people, then please come and support Turning Point, which, by the way, has an in impeccable record with their neighbours over many, many years.

Hi all – as you may know our meeting that was scheduled for February 19th had to be postponed as a result of the overwhelming response to the original invitation and the lack of space to accommodate the number of neighbours and supporters that attended.

I am pleased to advise that the meeting has been rescheduled.

The meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 4th:

Parkgate Community Centre (3625 Banff Court)
Gymnasium
6:00 pm - 8:30 pm

I look forward to seeing you there. Please feel free to call me in the interim if you have any questions, thanks

NIMBY IN NORTH VAN

PLEASE SUPPORT OUR FRIENDS & COLLEAGUES AT TURNING POINT, WHO ARE ABOUT TO OPEN A NEW RECOVERY CENTRE IN NORTH VANCOUVER AND ARE FACING LOCAL OPPOSITION.

Turning Point has been a major and thorough contributor to treatment and recovery in B.C. for many years. I have never heard of one untoward incident springing from their residences.

Folks in the proposed new North Van neighbourhood are understandably jittery, because they hear "drug addict or alcoholic" and panic.

Here is a recent email from Executive Director Brenda Plant:

On another front, not sure if you’ve been following the news lately, but if there are North Shore residents in the Network that might be able to come out and support us next week, we’d be very grateful. Please see attached and below, thanks.

The public meeting will be held this Thursday, February 19th at Parkgate Community Centre (3625 Banff Court, North Vancouver) at 6:30.

Let's be there and support Recovery.

SMALL BUT IMPORTANT HISTORY MADE

On January 27th and 28th,  fifty of Canada's leading experts in the field of addiction recovery, treatment, medicine, education and research came together in Ottawa for the first National Summit on Addiction Recovery.   Their aim was to create and present a collective vision of recovery in Canada.

At 10am on January 28th, the group reached consensus.

The attached document outlines that consensus.

I want to thank Minister Rona Ambrose and all of the staff of the Canadian Centre on Substance Abuse for supporting Recovery and all that work to achieve it.
